Taita Taveta – Wundanyi Constituency is witnessing a significant transformation in its education sector, as the area Member of Parliament, Danson Mwashako, continues to champion better learning conditions for the youth.
On January 24, 2025, Mwashako, alongside Education Cabinet Secretary Dr. Julius Ogamba, officially opened two newly-constructed schools featuring 16 state-of-the-art classrooms in Wumingu Kishushe and Mbale wards, marking a major milestone in the drive to improve education in the region.

The initiative is part of Mwashako’s ongoing commitment to providing every child in Wundanyi with access to quality education. At the event, the MP emphasized the importance of creating a conducive learning environment for pupils to thrive.

The Wiper Party lawmaker said the project would be replicated in the rest of all old and public schools across the constituency .


Mwashako disclosed that the two schools are some of the oldest schools in Wundanyi dilapidated that Ministry of Works had initially proposed the complete demolition of these schools due to their poor condition .

The Mghambonyi Comprehensive School, which now boasts a modern 8-classroom facility, was built at a cost of Ksh 16 million.
Meanwhile, the Mbauro Comprehensive School features a new 8-classroom storey block valued at Ksh 29 million.
Speaking exclusively to Prime Africa News, Mwashako revealed that these developments are part of his 2022 campaign promises to the people of Wundanyi, pledging to ensure that education becomes a cornerstone of the constituency’s growth.
This is just the beginning,” he remarked. “We will continue pushing for further improvements and are committed to delivering even more by 2027, as we work towards elevating Wundanyi’s education standards
