MOSCOW, June 18 (Prime Africa News) – Russia has issued a stern warning to the United States against providing direct military assistance to Israel, cautioning that such actions could “radically destabilize” the already volatile Middle East. The warning comes as the air war between Iran and Israel enters its sixth day, with no signs of de-escalation.
Russia’s Strong Warning
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov stated that U.S. military involvement in the conflict—including potential joint strikes with Israel against Iranian nuclear sites—would dangerously inflame tensions.

“This would be a step that would radically destabilise the entire situation,” Ryabkov said, according to Interfax news agency. He urged Washington to avoid even considering such “speculative options.”
Adding to the urgency, Sergei Naryshkin, head of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), described the Iran-Israel standoff as “critical.”
U.S. Weighs Military Options
The warning follows reports that U.S. President Donald Trump and his administration are evaluating military responses, including possible strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities. On Tuesday, Trump openly speculated on social media about targeting Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, though he later clarified that such action was not imminent.
Background of the Conflict
The latest escalation began last Friday when Israel launched surprise airstrikes against Iran’s nuclear sites, scientists, and military leaders. Russia condemned the attack as “unprovoked and illegal.” In retaliation, Iran has fired missiles and drones at Israeli cities, marking one of the most severe confrontations between the two nations in years.
Putin Calls for Ceasefire
Russian President Vladimir Putin, who strengthened ties with Iran through a strategic partnership treaty earlier this year, has called for an immediate cessation of hostilities. Moscow has positioned itself as a mediator, urging restraint from both sides.
Global Implications
The conflict risks drawing in global powers, with the U.S. and Russia taking opposing stances. Analysts warn that further military involvement could trigger a wider regional war, impacting global oil supplies and security dynamics.
As tensions soar, the international community watches closely, fearing a full-blown war that could reshape the Middle East.
