KAKAMEGA, Kenya – Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has called on the people of Western Kenya to remain focused and united behind President William Ruto ahead of the 2027 General Election, saying the region’s future prosperity is closely tied to continued collaboration with the current administration.
Speaking during the launch of Shirikiana SACCO at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology in Kakamega County, Mudavadi said Western Kenya leaders have already resolved to support President Ruto’s re-election bid and urged residents to rally behind that decision.
“During the 2022 campaigns, as leaders we gave direction. Our focus was on President Ruto and he won. We told you he was the route, and even now he remains to be that route we as a region must follow,” said Mudavadi.
He argued that President Ruto’s administration presents the best opportunity for the region to achieve meaningful economic transformation, citing ongoing efforts aimed at empowering communities and expanding development opportunities.
“President Ruto’s leadership is one of the critical and sure avenues that will help us change the fortunes of our region. He has walked with us a journey of economic empowerment and as a region we should be grateful,” he said.
The Prime Cabinet Secretary cautioned against political indecision, urging residents to remain consistent in their support for the government.
“When we talk of being focused, we should also be consistent. Let us not play hot and cold. We should be decisive and firm in our decision to support President Ruto and his agenda for the nation,” he added.
Mudavadi also praised President Ruto’s growing influence on the international stage, describing him as a strong advocate for Africa’s interests in global forums. He noted that the President is expected to participate in the upcoming G7 Summit in France, where he will present both Kenya’s and Africa’s priorities on matters of development, investment, and global cooperation.
“President Ruto has become a very powerful voice for the African continent. He is championing key agendas that are transforming this continent. At international forums, he is presenting Africa’s case for increased resources and opportunities that can benefit Kenya and the region,” Mudavadi said.
The event also marked the official launch of Shirikiana SACCO, a cooperative movement founded with roots in Western Kenya and designed to mobilize savings, expand access to affordable credit, and unlock economic opportunities for millions of Kenyans.
Mudavadi emphasized that cultivating a strong savings culture is essential for national prosperity, urging citizens to invest productively and build wealth for future generations.
“A strong savings culture empowers individuals, strengthens communities and provides the foundation for sustainable economic growth. The journey to lasting prosperity begins with a simple but powerful habit: saving,” he noted.
He added that collective investment and shared financial responsibility are key drivers of sustainable development.
“When people save together, invest together and grow together, they build the foundation for shared prosperity,” he said.
According to its founders, Shirikiana SACCO aims to support Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), strengthen agricultural value chains, promote financial literacy, improve access to healthcare and education, and leverage technology to deepen financial inclusion.
The SACCO is also expected to create employment opportunities, empower communities, and accelerate economic transformation across Western Kenya and other parts of the country.
The launch attracted leaders, entrepreneurs, cooperative movement stakeholders, and residents from across the region, underscoring growing interest in community-driven financial solutions as a pathway to economic growth and development.
