NAIROBI, Kenya — More than 60 teams will battle for county honours as the Safaricom Chapa Dimba county finals take place across eight counties in Kenya’s Eastern Region this weekend.
The matches are scheduled for Saturday, September 19, and Sunday, September 20, 2026, with teams from Isiolo, Meru, Embu, Tharaka Nithi, Machakos, Kitui, Makueni and Marsabit competing in both the boys’ and girls’ categories.
County champions in each category will pocket KSh75,000 and earn qualification to the inter-county playoffs. Runners-up will receive KSh30,000, with individual awards also set to be presented to outstanding players.
Isiolo
In Isiolo, MAFA Academy will face Towfiq FC in the boys’ category at Kiwanjani Grounds, while Garbatulla Queens will take on Bridge Starlets in the girls’ category.
Kitui
Kitui will field 16 teams in the county finals.
The girls’ fixtures will see Kitui FC Ladies face Kavalyani Starlets, United Starlets play ISAA Queens, Mwitaka Starlets meet Nguni Sirens, while Young Starlets take on defending champions Syomunyu Queens.
In the boys’ category, RMJS will face SMPI Academy, St Charles Lwanga will meet Musengo Senior School, Kiongwe Juniors will play Mwingi Juniors, while Wendea FC will face Nyanyaa Bullets.
The Kitui matches will be staged at St Charles Lwanga School.
Machakos
In Machakos, Matuu Homeboys will face Masii Boys Senior School, while Golden Football Academy will meet Koma United in the boys’ category.
The girls’ fixtures will see Kyumbi All-Stars Queens face Kibauni Ladies, while MCF will take on Kisooni Queens.
The matches will be played at Machakos Showground and Public Works Field.
Meru
Meru will see City Vultures Academy take on Mikinduri Stars FC, while Igane Juniors will face CCM Giantune Boys in the boys’ category.
In the girls’ competition, Akuune Queens will meet Mwariama Queens, while CCM Giantune will play Timberyard Queens.
Embu
At Numbure Grounds, Black Cats Football Academy will face Mufuu JSS, while Ishiara Brights Academy will take on Pwani FC in the boys’ category.
The girls’ matches will feature Ishiara Bright Starlets against AIC Ndune Queens, while Royal Queens Academy will face Kavutiri Lionesses.
Marsabit
In Marsabit, Red Tigers will meet Abdary FC, while Turbi FC will face DG Stingers FC at Marsabit Stadium.
Makueni
Makueni will see Mbuthani Secondary School, Mukuyuni School and Kalawa Pride Juniors compete in the boys’ category at Sultan Hamud Stadium.
In the girls’ category, AIC Sultan Queens will face Kiambani Queens.
Tharaka Nithi
In Tharaka Nithi, Gatunga Boys Jezentz will face Young Barcelona FC, while Mpukoni Junior Football Academy will meet Kajiunduthi High School.
The girls’ fixtures will see Iriani Starlets take on Mugona Girls, while Yalla SC will face Kiamuriuki Senior School.
Matches will be played at Kajiunduthi and Kairuni stadiums.
Teams eye regional qualification
FKF National Coordinator Oliver Kiptoo said more than 60 teams from the eight counties would compete for county honours and a place in the next stage of the tournament.
“More than 60 teams from across the eight counties will battle it out for county honours,” Kiptoo said.
The county finals will determine the teams that progress to the inter-county playoffs, with the Eastern Region finals scheduled for October 2 and 3, 2026, in Embu.
The regional finals will bring together teams that successfully advance through the county and inter-county stages, as the competition enters the next phase of the Safaricom Chapa Dimba tournament.
