Details behind Kasipul MP Charles Ong’ondo’s Assassination in Nairobi

NAIROBI, Kenya (Prime Africa News)Kasipul Member of Parliament, Hon. Charles Ong’ondo Were, was shot dead on Wednesday evening in a brazen attack near the City Mortuary roundabout in Nairobi.

The incident occurred at approximately 7:30 PM when two assailants on a motorbike reportedly ambushed the legislator. According to multiple eyewitnesses, one of the attackers dismounted and fired at the MP at close range before fleeing the scene with his accomplice.

Traffic police officers stationed nearby witnessed the shooting and quickly responded. The wounded legislator was rushed to Nairobi Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Authorities have launched a full-scale investigation into the incident, although the motive for the killing remains unclear. Nairobi police have appealed to the public for any information that may assist in tracking down the attackers.

Hon. Charles Ong’ondo Were was serving his second term as MP for Kasipul Constituency under the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party. He was known for his advocacy in education reform and youth empowerment in Homa Bay County.

ODM Party Leader Raila Odinga and other national leaders are expected to issue statements as the country reels from the shocking loss.
