KIAMUMBI, Kenya – Smiles and heartfelt gratitude filled the air at Agape Special Centre as officers from Detail 79 of the National Police Service (NPS) carried out a transformative Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative aimed at supporting children living with autism.
In a moving event marked by compassion and community spirit, the officers donated essential items including a gas cooker, a television set, assorted foodstuffs, and toiletries to the centre. The generous gesture was warmly received by learners, teachers, and parents alike, highlighting the profound impact of inclusive community engagement.
Detail 79 comprises officers who enlisted in the National Police Service in 2001. Since its formation as a welfare group in 2016 with just seven members, it has expanded into a vibrant unit with 351 members and an active investment arm of 100 members. While initially focused on providing mutual support among members, the group has broadened its mission to include social outreach and community development.
The officers’ visit to Agape Special Centre stands as a powerful testament to their ongoing dedication to creating inclusive spaces where all individuals—regardless of ability—can thrive. Their actions exemplify the NPS motto: Utumishi kwa Wote (Service to All), reinforcing the values of empathy, service, and national unity.
In a statement, the National Police Service lauded the initiative, commending Detail 79 for going above and beyond their call of duty to uplift the lives of vulnerable children.
“The unwavering compassion and sense of duty demonstrated by Detail 79 reflects the very best of our service. We are proud of their commitment to making a tangible difference in our communities,” read the statement.
This initiative not only brought joy and support to the Agape Special Centre but also set a shining example of how partnerships between security forces and the public can help build a more inclusive and caring society.
