Bungoma Governor Kenneth Makelo Lusaka has reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to uplifting persons living with disabilities as the county launched the fourth phase of wheelchair distribution in partnership with the Walkabout Foundation.

During the event, 100 new wheelchairs were issued to beneficiaries, marking what Governor Lusaka described as “a day of dignity… a day of renewed hope.”

“Every resident of Bungoma County matters, every dream is valid, and mobility is a right—not a privilege,” he said, emphasizing that the county remains committed to building an inclusive society where no one is left behind.

The governor revealed that through close collaboration with development partners, Bungoma County has so far distributed 420 wheelchairs.

“That is not just a number. It is 420 lives lifted, 420 families supported, and 420 futures unlocked,” he noted.

Lusaka encouraged beneficiaries to fully utilize their mobility devices to pursue education, employment, enterprise, and active community participation.

“These chairs are more than devices; they are instruments of freedom. Go to school, go to work, visit your neighbors, build your businesses and pursue your dreams. Your governor believes in you,” he told recipients.

He expressed gratitude to the Walkabout Foundation for its continued dedication to restoring dignity and expanding opportunities for vulnerable groups. He also applauded the County Special Programs Directorate for ensuring that support reaches those who need it most.

Reiterating his administration’s commitment to empowering persons with disabilities, Lusaka said Bungoma is steadily transforming into a county where “no one is left behind.”

“We do not see disability as inability. We see resilience, power, and potential,” he stated.

The governor further called on all stakeholders to remain united, noting that visible progress is already being made toward a more inclusive society.

“When we stand together—government, partners, and communities—there is no limit to what we can achieve,” he said.
