Njabini, Kinangop – Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i on Sunday joined United Opposition leaders Rt. Hon. Rigathi Gachagua and Hon. Justin Muturi for a church service at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Njambini Parish, where he delivered a pointed critique of the government’s performance and outlined the opposition’s priorities on governance and service delivery.
Addressing congregants after the service, Dr. Matiang’i questioned the government’s continued appeals for more time in office, arguing that Kenyans are yet to see tangible outcomes from the mandate already granted. He said the country has drifted from the development path many citizens expected, citing economic strain and gaps in service delivery, and called for leadership anchored in accountability and results.

Dr. Matiang’i reaffirmed the United Opposition’s commitment to restoring dignity in public service and prioritising the welfare of frontline workers. He announced that a future opposition administration would reinstate comprehensive medical insurance for police officers and teachers, reverse the Social Health Authority (SHA) framework, and implement reforms aimed at restoring stability and confidence in the education sector.
The leaders also raised concerns over the government’s silence on the plight of Kenyan youth affected by the Russia–Ukraine war, calling for a more responsive state that safeguards the welfare of its citizens both locally and abroad.
Rt. Hon. Gachagua and Hon. Muturi echoed the call for inclusive governance and sustained engagement with communities, noting that faith-based forums remain critical spaces for national reflection and dialogue.
The United Opposition said it will continue engaging Kenyans across the country as part of a broader push for national renewal, accountable leadership, and inclusive governance.
