With the high cost of electricity in the country which has taken a toll to margins of profits to many business and the the push for climate change initiative many companies has opt to embrace solar energy to compliment with them electricity.

one of the company is Mabati Rolling Milles MRN is a living testament after investing 2 million dollar on a 3 mega watts solar energy which will help the company to cut cost of production by a half.

Addressing the Congregants at the launch of the 3 mega watts solar energy at the plant promises, Sarit Shah the chairman of MRM noted the need to embrace clean energy in order to fight Climate change.”we need to embrace clean energy not because its cheap but because we have purpose in years to come we will not have Mombasa Island if we are not going to fight climate change” He said.

He has urged kenyans to at least embrace clean energy by embracing off gride on their homes. “I challenge each one of you to at least install two panel solar system on your houses in order to save ourselves from the wraths of climate change” Shah noted.

MRM CEO Albert Sigei says with the encoporation of the solar plant at the company it will help them reduce the cost of operations with 300,000 us dollars.

Albert noted the solar plant has been build on the rooftop with an equivalent of 2.5 hectares surface areas coverd by the solar panels. “This plant will help the company to cut cost on the production by a half which is a good thing to any investor.” He noted. Albert however noted the values of the company being key to environment and its people and the company will dwell much on its values.

The solar plant is said to be the biggest solar plant in East africa which will play a role in reduction of air pollution and fight climate change for a better sustainably environment.
