Nairobi, Kenya – September 26, 2025: The People’s Liberation Party (PLP) has formally unveiled its roadmap to the 2027 General Elections with a unanimous endorsement of Party Leader, Hon. Martha Karua, SC, as its presidential candidate.

The historic declaration was made during a Special National Delegates Conference at Ufungamano House in Nairobi, marking what Karua described not just as a candidacy announcement but a “declaration, a promise, and a turning point in our nation’s journey toward justice, unity, and dignity.”

Karua took direct aim at the current administration, accusing it of betraying public trust, undermining institutions, and abandoning the aspirations of ordinary Kenyans.

“The incumbents have chosen corruption over integrity, impunity over justice, and propaganda over service. Kenyans are hurting, and Kenyans deserve better,” she said to resounding applause.

The PLP leader stressed that her campaign is anchored on unity, noting the presence of allied parties including the Wiper Patriotic Front, the Democracy for Citizens Party, DAP-K, and Jubilee.

“Unity is not a choice. It is our duty to the people of Kenya,” she emphasized.

At the heart of the PLP manifesto is a zero-tolerance policy on corruption. Karua denounced graft as “the enemy of progress, the saboteur of dreams, and the thief of opportunity,” pledging that those implicated—regardless of rank, tribe, or political affiliation—will face justice.
She further vowed to restore security and dignity for all citizens, promising an end to abductions and enforced disappearances that have scarred many families.

Karua also reaffirmed her commitment to professionals across the public sector:

“Teachers, doctors, nurses, and civil servants will be respected. Their rights, labor, and livelihoods will be protected.”

The PLP platform, under the campaign banner “Unite. Liberate. Transform,” lays out far-reaching reforms:

  • Fair taxation tied to real public services.

  • Empowerment of 7.4 million Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

  • Universal healthcare and accessible education from early childhood to university.

  • Agricultural revitalization through credit access, market expansion, and modern technology to move farmers from subsistence to productivity.

The conference ratified major organizational reforms, including:

  • Creation of three deputy party leader positions to ensure broad representation and shared leadership.

  • Appointment of a sixteen-member Shadow Cabinet tasked with offering citizen-centered policy alternatives.

In a bold statement, Karua declared that she would only need one term to restore Kenya’s governance.

“I only need one term to return Kenya to the right path. Integrity will be restored, governance will be depoliticized, and leadership will serve the people,” she affirmed.

The event closed with the rallying cry “We are One People, One Purpose, One Term.” PLP Secretary General Asha Bashir underscored the party’s readiness for the journey ahead, pledging collaboration with stakeholders to build a Kenya rooted in justice, equality, and prosperity.
