Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka had a heated exchange with Abdi Mohamud, Deputy CEO of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), during a Senate session.
Onyonka criticized the EACC for failing in its duties, particularly concerning allegations against First Choice Recruitment Agency, accused of defrauding thousands of Kenyan youths.
Onyonka suggested that the EACC should be disbanded for its inaction, stating, The commission is sitting on the fence
In response, Mohamud defended the agency, demanding evidence from Onyonka about his accusations of bribery against EACC officials, which Onyonka had previously aired in media interviews.
The tension escalated when Mohamud suggested they meet “outside” the committee room after the session, a proposal that Senators Samson Cherargei and Stewart Madzayo quickly rejected, insisting the meeting could only take place in their presence.
