The Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) has officially launched the second edition of the Kenya Cup, marking a significant step in the growth and competitiveness of volleyball in Kenya and the wider region.

Speaking during the event, Kenya Volleyball Federation President Charles Nyaberi said the Kenya Cup has evolved from an off-season engagement into a major national tournament aimed at raising volleyball standards.

“The Kenya Cup was initially meant to keep teams active during the off-season, but it has grown into something much bigger. This is the second edition, and tournaments of this calibre must meet international standards,” he said.

Nyaberi noted that the federation is focused on making the tournament more competitive, appealing to fans, and beneficial to players by offering meaningful exposure at both regional and international levels.

“We want this tournament to be colourful, competitive, and a true test for teams across the region,” Nyaberi added.

KVF Deputy President and Uasin Gishu Branch Vice Chairperson Paul Bitok said interest from sponsors continues to grow, adding that the federation will consolidate commitments to determine the total sponsorship value for the 2026 edition.

“Several sponsors were present today, and we will be compiling the figures to establish the overall sponsorship value for this tournament,” Bitok said.

One of the official sponsors, MY WOOD Trading Company, reaffirmed its long-term commitment to supporting sports development in Kenya. The company’s Chief Executive Officer Ms Kathy Andrews said MY WOOD’s continued support of the Kenya Cup is driven by a belief that investing in sports contributes to national development.

“We have supported the Kenya Cup since the first season in 2025, and it was important for us to continue. Supporting sports is supporting the nation,” Andrews said.

With strong backing from the federation, government stakeholders, and committed corporate partners, the second edition of the Kenya Cup is expected to raise the bar for volleyball competitions in the country.

As preparations move into the competitive phase, stakeholders expressed optimism that the tournament will enhance performance standards and further position Kenya as a regional hub for high-quality volleyball events.
