The government has acknowledged that some students are unable to join Grade 10, due to financial challenges.
Addressing the media at Harambee House in Nairobi,Government spokeman Isaac Mwaura says the government is embracing various measures including ,presidential and ministerial bursaries, as well as funds from Members of Parliament and county governments. However, the government has cautioned schools charging excessively high fees ,calling upon school principals to strictly follow guidelines issued by the Ministry of Education.
On matters drought,the Government has reviewed the food and nutrition security in the Country following the escalating drought situation occasioned by the sub-optimal perfomance of the short rains in the 2025 October-December season.
According to Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, the government will spend Sh 4 billion every month to procure food and non-food items, livestock feeds and water for human, domestic and wildlife consumption and requested the development partners to complement the allocation with a Sh 2 billion boost to effectively make drought interventions.
The government has also issued a warning to Kenyans seeking jobs abroad with the Ministry of Labour asking Kenyans to verify all recruitment agencies via the National Employment Authority portal to avoid falling prey to rogue agents.
In the fight against corruption,Mwaura says the government is reducing human contact by digitizing services. More than 23,000 services are now available on the e-Citizen platform, enabling the government to collect up to one billion shillings daily, closing revenue loopholes.
Meanwhile, The Social Health Authority has so far registered 29 million Kenyans, bringing the country closer to achieving Universal Health Care.On the NYOTA program, more than 2.8 billion shillings has been disbursed to over 114,000 young entrepreneurs across 44 counties, promoting savings, self-reliance and economic growth.
