MERU, KenyaPreparations for the 2026 Meru Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) Show are in their final stages, with hundreds of exhibitors expected to participate in this year’s exhibition themed, “Promoting Climate-Smart Agriculture and Trade Initiatives for Sustainable Growth.”

Speaking ahead of the four-day event, Meru ASK Show Chairman Mwithimbu Ng’entu said the exhibition has been designed to complement the Competency-Based Education (CBE) curriculum by providing learners with practical exposure and hands-on learning opportunities.

Ng’entu noted that the show will allow students to engage directly with professionals, innovators, institutions, and industry players, helping bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world experiences.

“We want students to experience learning outside the four walls of the classroom by interacting directly with professionals, innovators and institutions that are shaping the future of agriculture and trade,” he said.

The exhibition will run from June 17 to June 20 and is expected to attract thousands of visitors from Meru County and neighbouring regions.

Beyond education and innovation, the event is anticipated to provide a significant economic boost to the region. More than 400 casual workers have already secured employment opportunities during the preparation phase, while hotels, transport operators, traders, and exhibitors are expected to benefit from increased business activity throughout the exhibition period.

Ng’entu emphasized that the annual show remains a key driver of local economic growth and job creation.

“The ASK Show is not only an agricultural exhibition but also an economic driver that creates jobs, supports local businesses and showcases opportunities for sustainable growth,” he added.

The exhibition will feature agricultural innovations, climate-smart farming technologies, trade displays, educational exhibitions, and networking opportunities aimed at promoting sustainable agricultural practices and economic development.

Organizers say this year’s event will provide a platform for stakeholders to share knowledge, explore emerging opportunities, and strengthen partnerships that support sustainable growth within the agricultural sector and beyond.
