NAIROBI, Kenya – April 29, 2025 — Renowned Kenyan radio broadcaster Edward Carey Kwach has died following a brief illness, his family confirmed in a statement released Tuesday morning. Kwach passed away on Monday, April 28, 2025, while receiving treatment for meningitis.
Until his death, Kwach was a celebrated radio host at Standard Media Group’s Spice FM, where his voice became a staple for many listeners across the country.
“It is with profound sadness that we announce the untimely passing of our beloved son and brother, Carey… He touched the lives of many through his voice and presence on the airwaves, becoming a trusted and familiar companion to listeners across the country,” the family said in the statement.
Kwach’s broadcasting career spanned over two decades, beginning in the early 2000s after switching from a legal path to pursue his passion in media. He rose to prominence through influential stints at Capital FM, Homeboyz Radio, Kiss FM, EA FM, and Nation FM. He also left a lasting impact at Urban Radio in Kisumu, where he co-hosted the breakfast show alongside Chris Okinda and Brian Oduor.
The family remembered him for his warmth, humour, and impeccable taste in music — qualities that endeared him to generations of listeners.

“He will be remembered not only for his warmth and humour but also for his exceptional taste in music, which brought joy and comfort to countless people,” the statement continued.
