Nairobi – President William Ruto has praised the Dawoodi Bohra community for its significant contribution to Kenya’s socio-economic development, citing strong investments in housing, healthcare, and education that continue to support national growth.
Speaking during an official visit to the Aljamea-tus-Saifiyah Nairobi campus in Karen, the President said the community’s long-standing presence and commitment to Kenya reflects a shared vision of inclusive development and social progress.
“We deeply appreciate the contribution of the Dawoodi Bohra community to Kenya’s growth, particularly in the housing, healthcare and education sectors,” President Ruto said. “Through Aljamea-tus-Saifiyah, a world-class Arabic academy, they continue to make a lasting impact on learning, values and social development.”

The Head of State noted that Kenya looks forward to strengthening and sustaining its partnership with the Dawoodi Bohra community as the country pursues its ambitious goal of becoming a first-world economy within a generation.
President Ruto reiterated that education remains central to the government’s transformation agenda, with a strong emphasis on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). He said the government is keen to ensure that at least 60 percent of learners acquire STEM-related skills to build a workforce capable of driving industrialisation and innovation.
“This transformation will be powered by a skilled and future-ready workforce,” he said, adding that education reforms are aligned with the country’s broader economic ambitions.
The President further highlighted the government’s infrastructure development plan as a key pillar of economic growth. The plan includes the generation of 10,000 megawatts of energy, construction of 30,000 kilometres of roads, development of a modern airport, and comprehensive reforms in the health sector to improve service delivery nationwide.
The visit was attended by His Holiness Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, the spiritual leader of the Dawoodi Bohra community, Shahzada Qaidjoher Ezzuddin, the Rector of Aljamea-tus-Saifiyah, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, and other senior government officials and community leaders.
Aljamea-tus-Saifiyah Nairobi campus is one of the global centres of learning established by the Dawoodi Bohra community and is widely regarded for promoting academic excellence, moral values and cultural exchange.
President Ruto said partnerships between the government and faith-based institutions remain critical in advancing Kenya’s development agenda and fostering social cohesion.
