NAIROBI, Kenya – Solaire Africa Opens Nairobi Headquarters, Strengthening Kenya’s Position as a Regional Renewable Energy Hub Kenya’s goal to become Africa’s top renewable energy and innovation hub got a significant boost with the opening of Solaire Africa’s regional headquarters in Nairobi.

This development is expected to speed up solar energy adoption, create skilled jobs, and enhance energy security across the continent. The launch is a key milestone for the renewable energy sector. It positions Kenya as the operational center for Solaire Africa’s expansion into East Africa and other emerging markets in Africa. The company, which has 28 years of experience in power systems manufacturing, has selected Nairobi as one of its two global operating hubs, alongside India.

This choice highlights the growing international confidence in Kenya’s economy and strategic location. Industry experts say the investment comes at a crucial time. African economies are seeking reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy solutions to power industrial growth, aid businesses, and expand electricity access to underserved communities. During the launch in Nairobi, Solaire Chairman Muhamed Ali Chenangadan stated that the company’s presence in Kenya demonstrates a long-term commitment to addressing energy challenges that impact economic productivity across Africa.

“We did not come to Kenya to sell boxes. The power problems this country faces every day are the same issues we set out to solve in 1998. Twenty-eight years of power systems manufacturing have taught us one thing above all: engineer solutions that last and stand behind them. Nairobi is now the second home of that promise,” he said.

Driving Kenya’s Green Economy Kenya has become one of Africa’s top renewable energy markets, generating a significant share of its electricity from geothermal, wind, hydro, and solar sources. Yet, many businesses and households still deal with high energy costs and occasional grid disruptions, creating a need for alternative power options. Solaire Africa’s entry into the market is set to help advance the country’s green growth agenda by providing solar energy systems that lessen dependence on traditional energy sources while supporting climate action goals.

The company offers a complete range of solar solutions, including solar inverters, lithium battery storage systems, Tier-1 solar panels, solar water heaters, and balance-of-system components for residential, commercial, industrial, and utility-scale applications.

The company has already completed projects totaling 3.5 megawatts across Kenya prior to the official opening of its Nairobi headquarters. This shows the rising demand for solar power among households, businesses, and institutions looking for reliable and cost-effective energy alternatives.

Supporting Africa’s Industrial Transformation Energy experts have long recognized that access to affordable and reliable electricity is a vital driver of economic growth and industrial development in Africa. By setting up a permanent base in Nairobi, Solaire Africa aims to support industries, manufacturers, agricultural businesses, and commercial enterprises with clean energy solutions.

These solutions can lower operational costs and boost productivity. This investment is also expected to strengthen regional supply chains and facilitate the transfer of technology and skills into African markets.

Solaire Africa Chief Executive Officer Mohammed Rinas Chenangadan described Kenya as a key gateway for the company’s ambitions across the continent. “Kenya is not a test market for us; it is the platform for everything that follows on the continent.

” We bring the complete solution and a long-term guarantee. Trusted partners deliver and install our systems, while the warranty remains with us for ten years. That is the model we are scaling from this office,” he said.

Creating Skills and Employment Opportunities Beyond energy infrastructure, Solaire Africa announced plans to invest in developing human capital through technical training programs for engineers and renewable energy professionals in Kenya. According to the company’s Director, Gourab Sarkar, this initiative aims to equip local professionals with practical skills in solar technologies.

It will help build a skilled workforce capable of supporting Africa’s growing renewable energy sector. The program will provide hands-on training and certification opportunities, with top-performing participants possibly joining future company projects. This effort is expected to tackle the shortage of specialized renewable energy technicians in many African countries while creating job opportunities for young engineers entering the industry.

Strengthening Kenya-India Economic Cooperation The launch ceremony at the Mövenpick Hotel in Nairobi brought together leaders from Kenya’s business community, diaspora organizations, and international partners.

Among the notable attendees were Chief Guest Amardeep Barnwal, Sujata Kotamraju, Chairperson of the Hindu Council of Kenya, and Abhishek Rana, Chairman of the India Kenya Chamber of Commerce. Their presence emphasized the growing commercial ties between Kenya and India, particularly in renewable energy, manufacturing, technology, and infrastructure development.

A Catalyst for Africa’s Energy Future As African nations intensify their efforts to ensure universal access to electricity and meet global climate targets, investments like Solaire Africa’s Nairobi headquarters are seen as essential for sustainable economic growth.

By blending technology, local partnerships, workforce development, and long-term investment, Solaire Africa’s expansion indicates increasing momentum for Africa’s renewable energy transition.

For Kenya, the new regional headquarters further solidifies Nairobi’s reputation as a major destination for clean energy investment and innovation. For Africa, it represents progress toward a resilient, low-carbon economy powered by dependable and affordable renewable energy.
