Nairobi, Kenya — The OKOA Nairobi Movement has launched a blistering attack on Governor Johnson Sakaja’s administration, accusing it of unprecedented financial mismanagement, systemic corruption, and presiding over the collapse of essential services in the capital.
In a strongly worded statement, the civic movement alleged that the Nairobi City County Government (NCCG) is “effectively insolvent,” crippled by debt after squandering more than Ksh. 120 billion in just three years. Despite collecting billions in revenue annually, the group says Nairobians continue to endure piles of uncollected garbage, impassable roads, water shortages, and neglected public facilities.
“This is clear evidence that the billions raised annually have been looted rather than invested in service delivery,” the statement charged.

The Movement dismissed what it termed “fraudulent Auditor General reports” that it claims have failed to capture the true extent of theft within county coffers. Instead, OKOA Nairobi is demanding a transparent and independent financial audit to expose misappropriation and restore accountability.
“We are told that Governor Sakaja has hurriedly cut deals with ODM and UDA leadership to shield himself from accountability. Nairobians deserve better than political cover-ups and elite pacts that protect looters at the expense of citizens,” the statement read.
The Movement announced plans to rally residents across all 85 wards in Nairobi, urging citizens to reject corrupt practices in ward-level projects and embrace civic engagement and voter education ahead of the 2027 general election.
“Our mission is to reclaim our government from abductors, looters, and opportunists,” the group declared, encouraging Nairobians to identify and support alternative leaders with integrity.
Beyond county politics, OKOA Nairobi called on President William Ruto and Azimio leader Raila Odinga to back constitutional reforms aimed at strengthening devolution and preventing what it described as “catastrophic governance failures.” The group also demanded a national referendum to refine the Constitution and enforce stricter safeguards against graft.
“WE THE PEOPLE shall not be the new politicians. The responsibility is ours to determine what areas of the Constitution need refinement and what future leadership should look like. We must reject all attempts to entrench corruption and mediocrity in governance,” the Movement emphasized.

“Garbage Administration”
As the 2027 elections draw closer, OKOA Nairobi warned that Sakaja’s leadership poses the greatest threat to Nairobi’s progress.
“This corrupt and garbage administration is the enemy of the people. Our duty is to ensure Nairobi is governed with integrity, accountability, and a real commitment to transformation,” the statement read.
In a powerful conclusion, Mr. Mrumishi Cyprian Nyamwamu, the Movement’s spokesperson, affirmed:
“Nairobi does not belong to the corrupt, it belongs to the people. We shall not allow the city to be mortgaged to greed and incompetence. The time for change is now, and Nairobians must rise to reclaim their destiny. Our city can and must become the shining example of good governance, not the capital of corruption.”
