Bungoma Court Adjourns KES 11M Graft Case Against Former Nzoia Sugar Company Managing Director and Other Top Officials
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) graft case involving former Nzoia Sugar Company Managing Director Godfrey Sifuna Wanyonyi and seven other executive officials failed to proceed today in Bungoma Anti-Corruption Court. The case was scheduled to conclude with the last two witnesses, EACC Detective Abraham Kemboi and former Nzoia MD Saul Wasilwa, set to testify.
Senior Principal Magistrate Josephat Gichimu adjourned the hearing to 22 October 2025 after being informed that one accused persons, Benson Khwatenge, did not appear in court due to medical reasons.
The multi-million graft case dates back to 2018 and involved senior managers of the company at the time when Mr. Godfrey Sifuna Wanyonyi was serving as managing director.
The former MD is charged alongside Benson Khwatenge Wafula (company secretary), John Wanyonyi Wekesa (chief cashier), Kenneth Onyango Omwago (cashier), Benson Sitati Wakhungu (internal auditor), Robert Vincent Juma (auditor), Kenneth Wafula Wanjala alias Mukombozi (administrator), and Juliet Ng’ang’a (clerk).
The eight accused persons are charged with swindling KES 11 million from the sugar company.
