Malulu was a man of honour. His word was his word. When he meant yes, that remained his stand. If he said he would support a certain course, he never changed. And when he said no, he had spoken his mind

Mudavadi, who fondly remembered his long-standing friendship with Malulu, shared personal anecdotes about their campaigns. “People used to tease us that we looked alike. I remember during campaigns when we were traversing the country with the late Soita Shitanda. If you wanted to know where Soita was, you had to ask Malulu, and if you wanted to know where Malulu was, you had to ask Shitanda,” he recalled.

The Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, who had just returned from Geneva, Switzerland, visited the Malulu family at their South C, Nairobi home to offer his condolences. He had earlier paid his respects to Malulu at Lee Funeral Home, describing him as a dear friend and colleague. Mudavadi expressed his condolences on social media, stating, “Paid my respects to my friend and colleague, the Late Hon. Malulu Injendi, at Lee Funeral Home, before joining his family at their Nairobi home. To Mama Betty Malulu, the children, and the entire family, pole sana for the loss of a devoted husband, father, and pillar of the community. May his legacy endure.”

As the country and the people of Malava mourn the loss of their MP, Mudavadi urged that the mourning process be conducted with respect and dignity. He emphasized, “We want a dignified send-off for our late brother. As the family remains in our thoughts and prayers, we want all mourning ceremonies, both in Nairobi and at the rural home in Malava, to be organized in a respectful manner. There is no honor in disrupting someone’s send-off.”

Mudavadi also reiterated the strength of his partnership with the people of Malava, which he said was solidified through Malulu. “My partnership with the people of Malava was very solid through Malulu. He spoke very resolutely, and I admired his charisma. I want to assure the family and my good people of Malava that moving forward, we shall remain united and peaceful as we walk together and support one another as we have done before.”

Malulu Injendi passed away on Monday after a short illness. At the time of his death, he was the Vice Chairman of the Education Committee in the National Assembly and had been actively involved in legislation aimed at improving the education sector. Mudavadi noted, “His efforts in shaping pivotal legislation will leave an enduring legacy in Kenya’s education sector and beyond.”

The burial of the late Malulu Injendi is set for Tuesday, March 4th, 2025.
