Nyota Ndogo Explodes on TAVEVO Over Water Disconnection: “I’m Not Paying for Air!”

Celebrated Afro-pop star Nyota Ndogo has found herself at the center of a heated controversy after she publicly lashed out at Taita Taveta County’s water company (TAVEVO) over what she described as “total incompetence and daylight impunity”.

In a fiery confrontation captured on video and now widely circulating on social media, the “Watu na Viatu” hitmaker can be seen berating a TAVEVO agent who had allegedly come to disconnect her water supply.

“You’re here to disconnect what? My tenants haven’t had water in months and you’re sending me bills ” she is heard shouting in Swahili-infused anger.

Nyota Ndogo, visibly frustrated, accused the county-run utility firm of gross negligence, saying she has been forced to survive without consistent water supply for several months, despite being slapped with regular and unexplained bills.

The dramatic exchange escalated when she swore she would “never pay a single cent” for services she did not receive and ordered the agent to “go back where you came from.”

The video, which has now gone viral, has sparked mixed reactions online. While some have praised the award-winning artist for standing up against poor service delivery.

The altercation has reignited public fury over the deteriorating state of essential services in Taita Taveta County, where residents have long complained of irregular water supply, inconsistent billing, and poor customer service by TAVEVO.
